Welcome!

The Kohlmeier lab is part of the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Memphis in Tennessee, USA. We are interested in the epigenetic, transcriptomic, neurogenetic, and physiological mechanisms that enable organisms to adapt to their environment. For this, we use a variety of model organisms, in particular the acorn ant Temnothorax longispinosus, the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster, and the African Fig Fly Zaprionus indianus and integrate different experimental approaches including field studies, behavioral experiments, RNA-sequencing, neurophysiology, the neurogenetic toolbox of D. melanogaster, and many more.

Feel free to get in touch if you have questions or want to join our lab.
